This Privacy Policy explains how Lapka ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use our app.
1. Who We Are
Lapka is a dog walk tracking app developed by Ivan Borisov (sole proprietor), United Kingdom. Ivan Borisov is the data controller responsible for your personal data under applicable data protection laws.

2. Data We Collect
- Account data — email address, and name when provided by the sign-in provider or entered manually in your profile. Profile photo when signing in with Google. When signing in with Apple, your name is shared only on first sign-in and your email may be a private relay address.
- Pet data — name, breed, sex, weight, date of birth, and photos.
- Walk data — date, time, duration, distance, GPS route recorded in the background, photos, notes, and toilet activity log per pet.
- Device and technical data — Firebase Installation ID, operating system version, and app version (collected automatically by Firebase).
- Analytics data — anonymous usage data collected by Firebase Analytics (can be disabled in Privacy settings).
- Subscription data — purchase status and subscription details managed by RevenueCat.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide core app features: walk tracking, statistics, pet profiles, and shared pet ownership.
- To sync data across devices and with pet co-owners.
- To improve the app through anonymous analytics (if enabled).
- To process and manage your subscription.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance — to provide core app features: walk tracking, pet profiles, statistics, shared pet ownership, and subscription management.
- Consent — for analytics data collection (can be withdrawn at any time in Privacy settings) and location tracking (can be revoked in device settings).
- Legitimate interest — for app security, fraud prevention, and service improvement.

The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- Active walk state (route, photos, notes) — to restore after unexpected app termination.
- App settings: units, language, and notification preferences.
- Walk reminder schedule.
- Cached account data for faster startup.
7. Notifications
The app may send local push notifications for walk reminders you set up. No notification content is sent to external servers.
8. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage) on Google Cloud servers in the United States (us-central1). Firebase complies with Google Cloud security standards and industry-standard data protection practices.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data is transferred to and stored in the United States. For users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, these transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) implemented by our service providers (Google, RevenueCat) in accordance with GDPR requirements.
10. Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers:
- Google Firebase — data storage, authentication, and analytics.
- Google Sign-In — account authentication when you choose this option.
- Apple Sign-In — account authentication when you choose this option.
- RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase verification.
- Open-Meteo — weather data based on your current coordinates. No personally identifiable information is sent.
11. Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data.
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data in the app.
- Erasure — delete your account and all associated data via Privacy → Delete All Data.

- Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — disable analytics at any time in Privacy settings.

12. California Residents (CCPA)

13. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted from our systems.
14. Children's Privacy
The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
